VIDEO: Penn State's Pat Freiermuth Brutally Trucks Memphis Defender on Big Run During Cotton Bowl
By Sean Facey
After falling behind Memphis early in the Cotton Bowl, it looks as though Penn State has finally woken up, and they're playing for blood. The Nittany Lions reclaimed the lead in the second quarter, and on another drive downfield with the end zone in sight, tight end Pat Freiermuth completely devastated a Tigers defender with a vicious truck.
Freiermuth lowered his shoulder and ran right through the helpless DB, but unfortunately stepped out of bounds in the process.
The play set Penn State inside the red zone, but considering how nasty that hit was, it should have counted for six. Fortunately, they managed to punch it in from the one-yard line just moments later.
We hope that DB isn't too shaken up after that hit, but he should know better than to stand in the way of a moving freight train like the 6-5 Freiermuth.
