People Are Literally Paying $400 for Tickets to Zion's 1st Summer League Game
By Will Fowler
We knew that Zion Williamson's presence in New Orleans was going to command attention.
We didn't think it would be this quickly.
According to Ben Golliver, basketball fans in Las Vegas are itching to see Zion play Summer League basketball, so much so that tickets are being sold for north of $400.
The game is completely sold out, with 17,500 tickets being sold, and more than 1,000 media credentials have been handed out, which is a record for the Summer League. Incredible how many fans are itching to catch Williamson in his first NBA action.
The Pelicans get their Summer League campaign going tonight at 9:30, when Zion and New Orleans take on the New York Knicks -- a game that features Zion going up against R.J. Barrett, the No. 3 overall pick and former teammate at Duke.
And for the price that tickets are going at, I would think that this was a Friday night game at the Garden with serious postseason implications. $400 tickets and 1,000 media credentials being handed out for a Summer League game? What in the world?
As shocking as it is to hear, it's about as box office as a Summer League game can be. There's two can't-miss talents going head to head on the same floor, and I know that I, along with millions others, will be tuned in.
