Pete Alonso Has High Praise for New Mets Manager Luis Rojas
By Evan Wolff
It's fair to say this hasn't been the cleanest winter for the Mets, from a PR standpoint. From taking an abnormal amount of time to hire a replacement for Mickey Callaway, to firing that replacement before the next season even begins, it has been an extremely uncomfortable offseason to be a Mets fan.
However, after the recent hiring of Luis Rojas, things may finally be heading in the right direction for the Mets before the start of the 2020 season. One notable player who has publicly stated his support for the slightly-altered direction the club has taken is Pete Alonso.
Nice to get him on your side, huh?
The NL Rookie of the Year was clearly a fan of Rojas' leadership while he was in Double-A, and that leadership translated in to one of the best seasons by a Mets player ever. The Mets need every bit of positive energy they can muster to remain competitive in a tough NL East, and the support of one of the team's premier players will certainly help matters.
If there is any set of fans that need reassuring that their team is making the correct decision, it is Mets fans. The vocal support of a player who has worked under Rojas before, especially if that player is Pete Alonso, will help suppress an ever-present anxiety that always seems to hang around Citi Field.
