How long does it take for a big-leaguer to become a legend for the respective club that he is playing for?

Well, for Mets' rookie phenom Pete Alonso, the legend continues to grow. The 24-year-old slugger recently clubbed his 30th home run of 2019, tying the franchise record for most HRs in a first half of a season. He's the type of player and leader that Queens will want donning the blue and orange threads for years into the future.

And if the Metropolitan fan base didn't already back that notion, they certainly will after they read the latest comments Pete made about the Amazins' loyalty.

Wow. Not only did the rook applaud Mets devotees, but he also called out the crosstown rival Yankees and their bandwagon buffs.

"I love the support the Mets fans give us and I think they're some of the best fans in baseball because whether the team's doing well or not doing well they're still coming out to the games," Alonso continued.

Alonso's confidence is admirable and his comments definitely won over the hearts of Yankee-haters but calling out an organization who's won 27 World Championships compared to the Metsies two is exceptionally brazen.

What a way to spice up the Subway Series rivalry.
