Pete Carroll Reveals NFL Told Seahawks Nasty Bud Dupree Hit on Russell Wilson Should've Been Flagged
By Ryan Giglio

It seems that NFL officials can't keep up with the constant rule changes seen the past few years.
The latest example comes after Steelers linebacker Bud Dupree laid a nasty hit on Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson during their Week 2 matchup, but no flags were thrown.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll told reporters that officials explained to him that no flag was thrown on the play because the officiating crew did not see Dupree lowering his helmet and crushing Wilson.
It's amazing that no official saw the hit, especially during an era of the NFL in which protecting the quarterback is considered of the utmost importance.
Carroll said NFL has told Seahawks that the Bud Dupree hit on Wilson should have been called a penalty.

Carroll later sent the play to the NFL along with a list of questions in hopes of receiving a better explanation on why the hit went unpenalized, to which the league admitted the coach that a flag should have indeed been thrown on the play.
Pete Carroll will ask NFL for explanation on why Steelers' Bud Dupree didn't get flagged for helmet-to-helmet hit on Russell Wilson. Asked if he thinks that should be reviewable. Carroll says "I bet" it will come to that, bc of QB position's value/emphasis on head hits #Seahawks

Perhaps this missed call will result in the NFL reconsidering its stance on reviewing missed calls on potential dangerous hits, and it seems like Carroll would be on board with some tweaks to the rules.
