Hollywood Celebrity Pete Carroll is Clearly the NFL's Quarantine Coach of the Year
By Tyler Kemp
NFL head coaches have been forced to innovate ways to keep their players engaged throughout their virtual offseason programs in these days of COVID-19. This isn't limited to meetings concerning what happens on the field, either. Having a bit of fun now and then is a must, and no one has done this better than Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll.
Thanks to all the connections he forged around Hollywood thanks to his time leading the USC Trojans and his generally outgoing reputation, ol' Petey has found ways to keep his players entertained by bringing in a steady string of celebrities to crash team video discussions on Zoom. Can your coach make Will Ferrell appear out of nowhere? No, he can't.
Ferrell tried his best to blend in as a member of the Seattle organization during a past meeting. Most recently, Seahawks safety Quandre Diggs mentioned that Warriors head coach Steve Kerr stopped by via Zoom, too. There were surely more than a few questions begging to be asked about "The Last Dance," as well as Kerr's increasingly scruffy quarantine look.
Despite the challenging circumstances, Carroll has found ways to keep his players entertained with a parade of celebrity guests. Whether the virtual program is truly the new normal or Seattle is back in person as a team in the months to come, Seahawks players and fans alike can and should take the time to appreciate that their head coach is absolutely winning quarantine.
