Peter Gammons Doubles Down on Gerrit Cole-Yankees Take With Yet Another Cryptic Tweet
By Adam Weinrib

By all accounts, free agent ace Gerrit Cole is poised to sign a record-breaking deal, and it's highly possible he'll put pen to paper in the presence of the Steinbrenner family. Despite early rumors Cole would prefer the West Coast, the New York Yankees have been absolutely relentless in their pursuit.
But if you're a dogmatic believer in MLB insider Peter Gammons, a Cole deal isn't just a possibility in New York; it's done.
Jon is right. They were not denied. Dodgers, Angels will soon learn. https://t.co/8gIIrYEPKN

After tweeting that the Dodgers and Angels would soon be informed that Cole was passing on their offers earlier this afternoon, Gammons was right back at it as the evening began.
Gerrit Cole will go into New York for his age 29 season, and in 2018 averaged 102 pitches in 33 starts, didn't get to 100 in a third of them, got the 'Stros to the 7th 29 times, did not go past 113 Ps until his high of 118 in Game 1 vs. Tampa.

"Will" go into New York? Will? Per Jeff Passan, the initial offers in the Cole chase are being presented this week. Why is Gammons so confident? Is this an elaborate reverse jinx? How much is Bill Simmons paying for these missives?
Of course, Gammons' tweets have always been a source of confusion. Back in the day, his pocket's fabric used to do a lot of the work for him.

Even Gammons' most recent tweet following his Cole theory was...well, rather unrelated to the task at hand.
they love his toys, love 666, and how many of the pilots on 9/11 were Saudis? https://t.co/DCU5CHPRQz

So, take it with a grain of salt, Yankee fans. Unless, of course, you wanna get nuts. Gammons knows his stuff, and he is unfathomably confident here.
