There has been a variety of speculation about Peyton Manning's future this offseason, with some rumors suggesting that he was being considered for the Jets GM job and others intimating that he passed on a job in the booth on ESPN's Monday Night Football.

On Thursday, Peyton apparently addressed those rumors and even made a classic Manning joke to a group of Broncos beat writers:

Of course, the "United Way skit" he is referring to is a digital short that Peyton did on Saturday Night Live back in 2007, and, well, it speaks for itself:

Joking aside, Peyton is known for his sharp football mind and photographic memory, and there's no reason he couldn't be as insightful and knowledgeable an announcer as Tony Romo has become (although it's unclear if his folksy southern drawl would work in the booth).

This tweet, though, makes it seem more likely that Manning would eventually pursue a front office job than a media job. Maybe he will follow in the footsteps of John Elway, the Broncos' current President of Football Operations, who took the executive route after his Hall of Fame career as a QB.

For now, Peyton seems content to keep doing volunteer work. Let's just hope he's a little nicer to kids in real life than he is on SNL.
