Peyton Manning Responds to Tom Brady's Unexpected Move to Buccaneers
By Michael Luciano
Tom Brady leaving the New England Patriots for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers shocked many around the league, and even one of the few quarterbacks in the same stratosphere as him legacy-wise was totally blindsided by Brady's quick about-face.
Peyton Manning, in an interview on SportsCenter, claims that Brady leaving the Patriots after 20 years was an "interesting" decision.
"I talked to Tom at different times, but never really about that actual decision," Manning said. "But he seems happy. He seems excited." Manning also remarked that Brady needs to "learn the ropes" in the NFC after two decades in the AFC.
Manning himself knows what it takes to leave the organization he made his name with when he bolted the Indianapolis Colts and signed with the Denver Broncos in 2012 in free agency. With a passing title, MVP, and Super Bowl ring accrued during his four-year stint, he made the most of his second act at Mile High.
Whether Brady can reach championship heights in Tampa cannot yet be known, but Bruce Arians and the Bucs certainly have a solid foundation.
You could even call it "interesting."
Part of the reason Peyton was so successful in Denver was that he joined a team that needed that one big jigsaw piece at quarterback to get over the hump. Bucs fans are similarly hoping that TB12 can be that same piece and bring a Lombardi back to the Bay for just the second time ever.
