Phil Hughes' Embarrassing Jay-Z Story From Yankees World Series Celebration is Amazing
By Jerry Trotta
Let's take a stroll down memory lane to 2009, New York Yankees fans -- the last time your beloved club were champions of the baseball world for an astronomical 27th time.
When you go down the endless list of stars on that roster you will remember names like Derek Jeter, Robinson Cano, Andy Pettitte, Mariano Rivera, Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira, and CC Sabathia, among others.
Perhaps the last name Pinstripe faithful will recall from Joe Girardi's stacked inventory, however, is former pitcher Phil Hughes, who actually might have the most memorable story from New York's celebration.
Reminiscing on "Mission 27," a book by Mark Feinsand and Bryan Hoch that documents the quest for and celebration of the Yankees winning their 27th World Series, Hughes took to Twitter to recall a moment where he tried to dunk on decorated rapper, Jay-Z.
Of course, Hughes failed miserably and hit the hardwood in embarrassing fashion, but we absolutely respect his determination to posterize one of the greatest rappers of his generation.
And don't lie, if you were on a World Series-winning high, you would attempt to dunk on any athlete or celebrity standing in front of the basket.
Unfortunately for Phil, he'll have to settle for a ring that represents the greatest accomplishment of his 12-year career.
