Former MLB Pitcher Phil Hughes Wonders if Players Could Consider Work Stoppage Over Lacking Astros Punishment
By Jackson Thompson

Could the Houston Astros cause the next great strike for baseball in the wake of their cheating scandal?
Former New York Yankees All-Star pitcher Phil Hughes made a point on Twitter on Sunday, inquiring if the MLB players should consider a work stoppage until real punishments are dealt to the Astros. Houston has been allowed to retain the 2017 World Series title and all players have been granted immunity.
I know this may sound extreme but I’m curious if the players have considered a work stoppage until real punishments are handed down

The year Houston cheated their way to the World Series in 2017, Hughes played for the Minnesota Twins. His last appearance of the season came against the Astros in relief, as he gave up three runs on give hits over 1 1/3 innings pitched. He has since spoken out about the game, as one that featured an unusual amount of trash can bangs.

The next season was the last of Hughes' career. He did not face the Astros that year. Since his retirement, he has stayed in the public eye running his own Youtube Channel in which he unboxes baseball cards.
Despite the outspokenness of many of the game's best players regarding this issue, it's unlikely to cause a strike given that the MLBPA also represents those same Astros player. Nonetheless, it's an intriguing topic.
