Eagles Absolutely Need to Target Breshad Perriman in Free Agency After Failing to Sign Robby Anderson
By Evan Wolff
After the departure of Nelson Agholor to the Las Vegas Raiders, the Philadelphia Eagles were left with few options at the wide receiver position. One solution would have been Robby Anderson, and a number of teams aimed to pry the talented receiver away from the New York Jets in free agency. In the end, the Carolina Panthers secured his signature with a lucrative two-year deal, leaving the Eagles with yet another scramble.
So, who is still available on the market for the Eagles front office to chase after? One name that has flown under the radar this NFL offseason has been Breshad Peerriman. The fourth-year wide receiver, who scored six touchdowns with the Tampa Buccaneers and came on strong at the end of the 2019 season, is an underrated talent that would be perfect for the Eagles to pick up in a low-risk, high-reward move.
Perriman is an ideal target for Carson Wentz in the Eagles, a receiver who gets off the line quickly and can switch on breakaway speed downfield. With Alshon Jeffery not living up to expectations of late, the Eagles would sincerely benefit from a fresh target for Wentz to aim for, and it Perriman notably won't break the bank.
If there is anything that Eagles fans are desperate for, it is a receiver who knows how to keep his hands on the football and stretch the field. The Eagles lost that threat when DeSean Jackson went down early in the 2019 season, and Wentz needs a receiver of that caliber to keep the pressure off of him. Acquiring Breshad Perriman could be the key for the Eagles repeating as NFC East champions.
