3 Eagles Veterans Who Could Be Cut After the Draft
By Brady Williams
After their 2019 season was plagued with injuries, the Philadelphia Eagles have some serious needs to address in the NFL Draft. In order to make some room for the newcomers, they're going to need to cut some dead weight. The Eagles went from Super Bowl champs to back-to-back 9-7 seasons, and if they want to get back to NFC contention, these three guys who have barely seen the field will need to be sent packing.
3. LB Alex Singleton
Alex Singleton made his way on the field in 10 games last season, but he only made the active roster after Zach Brown was released. Before that, he was a practice squad player. After only posting five tackles in all of 2019, he's clearly never going to be an important piece for the birds. Don't expect to see him staying with Philly through the summer months.
2. QB Kyle Lauletta
Another practice squad guy, 25-year-old Kyle Lauletta arrived in Philly last season. He signed a reserve contract in January, but it's unlikely that will last. For his entire NFL career, Lauletta has throw five passes and completed zero, including one interception. That's it. It's clear that his value to the team is as minimal as it gets.
1. CB Rasul Douglas
Unlike the other players on this list, Rasul Douglas has actually made a difference for the Eagles. He's started in 18 games across three seasons in Philadelphia. With 118 tackles in his time in the league, he's been a serviceable depth player and spot starter when the situation calls for it. However, between the new talent the Eagles will draft and his $2.3 million cap hit, it's possible that Philly won't be keeping him around the locker room much longer.
