Philip Rivers Unwilling to Crown Tom Brady the GOAT Just Yet

There's no disputing the success Tom Brady has had in his NFL career. Everyone knows the late round draft pick story at this juncture, and the giant chip Brady has on his shoulder is never-ending and exhausting for the rest of the league's 31 other teams.

Most fans and analysts would even go as far as to say Brady is the GOAT, but Philip Rivers isn't most people.

In an interview, Rivers suggested that he does not necessarily think Brady is the undisputed greatest football player of all time. There's an understanding that rings play a role in determining the greatest players, but Rivers thinks thats an inaccurate depiction of a quarterback's greatness.

He went on to describe the events at the end of Super Bowl XLIX between the Patriots and Seahawks. When Malcolm Butler sealed the deal at the goal line with his interception, pundits were declaring Brady the GOAT after winning his fourth championship.

But Rivers argues that if the Seahawks had run the ball, scored and won the game, Brady would have one less championship, but would have still played the same exact game. Championships should not be the end-all-be-all because there are so many factors that go into a title than just the quarterback.

Of course, this is all very convenient coming from a player who has yet to win even one Lombardi Trophy.
