Philip Rivers Reportedly Set to Enter Free Agency as Chargers Have Reportedly 'Moved on'

Philip Rivers has been the face of the Chargers for the better part of two decades. Now, it looks like that chapter of his career is coming to a close.
According to a report from NFL insider Jay Glazer, the Bolts are prepared to "moved on" from their franchise QB as he enters free agency this offseason.
Rivers, 38, has been with the Chargers since the infamous draft-and-trade with the New York Giants that swapped him for Eli Manning back in 2004.
Across his 16 years with the team, 13 of which were spent in San Diego, Rivers keyed six playoff berths, advancing as far as the AFC Championship back in the 2007 campaign before losing to the Patriots.
After a near-MVP type season in 2018, Rivers struggled mightily in 2019. He threw 23 touchdowns to 20 interceptions (the second-most of his career) and the Chargers finished the year with a 5-11 record.
The team were rumored to be interested in drafting a quarterback in the first round this year, and following the report that Rivers' time in LA is expired, that seems a likely avenue for the team to explore.
Rivers, an eight-time Pro Bowler almost certain to end up in the Hall of Famer, has amassed a 123-101 record throughout his career, and has not thrown for fewer than 4,000 yards since 2012.
Considering his resume, there will likely be a few quarterback-needy teams who take a long look at Rivers in the months to come.
