Phillies Reportedly Signing Slugger Logan Morrison
By Max Scoli
Logan Morrison, who was recently signed by the New York Yankees before opting out of his contract, will head back to the National League for the first time since 2013 after reportedly striking a deal with the Philadelphia Phillies.
The veteran first baseman has enjoyed a long and fruitful career, beginning his journey with the Florida Marlins in 2010, while also spending time with the Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Rays, and Minnesota Twins.
Over the course of his nine-year MLB career, Morrison has sported a .239/.325/.752 stat-line to go along with 137 HR, 421 RBI, and 23 SB. He is also just two years removed from his best season as a pro when he hit a career-best 38 HR and 85 RBI as a member of the Rays, surpassing his previous highs of 23 HR and 72 RBI from six years prior.
While it remains to be seen how much gas he has left in the tank, this is a great low-risk, high-reward sign for the Phillies.
