Philly-Area High School RB and Notable Eagles Fan Anthony Myers Dies After Battle With Cancer

A member of Eagles Nation has unfortunately passed away far too soon.

Anthony Myers, a Berks Catholic running back and noted Philadelphia Eagles fan, died on Wednesday afternoon following a year-long battle with brain cancer. Myers was only 17-years-old.

Myers' high school football career was put to a halt after he was diagnosed with a brain tumor in October 2018. He then underwent brain surgery that November, followed by an eight-month span of treatments.

Prior to the surgery, Myers was granted permission to play in Berks Catholic's playoff game, where he scored two touchdowns, including a 80-yard punt return score. That would ultimately be Myers last high school football game.

Myers wore the No. 17 on his jersey, and he received support from numerous athletes who shared his number, including Eagles receiver Alshon Jeffery and former 76ers guard JJ Reddick.

During his fight stage 3 brain cancer, the Eagles learned of his fandom for the team. In fact, the Eagles flew Myers and his family to Super Bowl LIII.

Anthony Myers will forever be known for strength and perseverance while fighting such a deadly disease. We send our thoughts and prayers to Myers' family and friends during this trying time.
