Photo Emerges of Shaved Edwin Encarnacion and it's Genuinely Jarring
By Sean Facey
When Edwin Encarnacion was traded to the Yankees, we all knew that this was coming. The shave was imminent.
Still, seeing the feared slugger without his iconic facial hair is incredibly jarring. Luckily, he went live on IG to break the news to us.
It's strange seeing him without the chinstrap. It's practically been part of his personality in recent years, and was one of his most recognizable attributes on the field aside from his parrot celebration.
Quite honestly, though, the clean, new look does seem to make the 36-year-old slugger look a few years younger.
Perhaps the fresh shave can give him a burst of vitality to terrorize the pitchers of the AL East as he returns to the division he called home from 2009 to 2016 with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Beard or no beard, the fact that he can absolutely obliterate baseballs still remains constant. He's finished each of the last seven seasons with at least 30 home runs, twice topping 40, and he leads the AL this year with 21 in the middle of June.
With quite literally a fresh new face joining the Yankees, the rest of the league better watch out for him and the Bronx Bombers.
