Pirates Acquire Pitcher Yefry Ramirez From Orioles
By Adam Weinrib

Pittsburgh has acquired a bit more depth for the staff, continuing to manage their roster through modest expectations of contention.
Borrowing from Baltimore, the Pirates added starter/swingman Yefry Ramirez on Monday afternoon.
The Pirates have acquired RHP Yefry Ramirez from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for a player to be named. To make room on the 40-man roster, RHP Jesus Liranzo has been designated for assignment. Ramirez will be assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Jesus Liranzo is the roster casualty for Pittsburgh's 40-man, and Ramirez will head to Triple-A in favor of joining the big league club.
Ramirez, a former New York Yankees prospect who's struggled to dominate in Baltimore, made 17 appearances (12 starts) for the O's in 2018, posting a 1-8 record and a 5.92 ERA.

Pittsburgh's banking on Ramirez's size and build translating to better results moving forward; the 6-2, 215-pound righty is hanging on at the fringes of the game, but could find a foothold in the 'Burgh, a spot where many bargain-bin additions have thrived, thanks to excellent coaching (and yes, Ramirez stylistically does resemble Ivan Nova).
