Pirates Are Bringing Back Manager Clint Hurdle for Some Psychotic Reason
By Scott Rogust

To say the Pittsburgh Pirates' 2019 campaign was a disastrous one is a massive understatement. From their roles in brawls to infighting to dealing with a serious controversy in Felipe Vazquez, you'd think some sweeping changes would be made, right?
Wrong!
Manager Clint Hurdle exclusively revealed to The Athletic that he's been assured by the organization his job is secure and he'll be back for the 2020 season.
Exclusive: Clint Hurdle has been informed he’ll be back as #Pirates manager next season. I spoke with him about it before today's game. "I’d love to win a World Series ring before I no longer am in uniform. That hourglass has been flipped over. I’m 62.”https://t.co/tWZNGhNNkZ

While Hurdle set to return next year, Stephen J. Nesbitt reports the Pirates organization is expected to make changes to their coaching staff and front office.
The Pirates are currently 66-91 on the year entering Wednesday night, which is the worst record the team has had with Hurdle at the helm. At the All-Star break, the Pirates found themselves within 2.5 games of the NL Central lead. In the following month, Pittsburgh compiled a 5-24 record, which buried them for the remainder of the season.

Since joining the Pirates in 2011, Hurdle has an overall record of 732-719. Under his leadership, Pittsburgh made the playoffs in three consecutive seasons (2013-15), during which they lost in the 2013 NLDS and in back-to-back NL Wild Card Games. That's it.
Now he's getting another opportunity after all the insanity that's characterized the club this year. Truly unbelievable.
