Pirates Infielder Pablo Reyes Suspended 80 Games
By Michael Luciano

There aren't many positives to speak of around the Pittsburgh Pirates right now, and their constant, nauseating stream of unpleasantness just got even more tough to digest now that a potential depth piece will miss half the season.
Pirates infielder Pablo Reyes, 26, tested positive for Boldenone, a performance-enhancing drug on the league's banned supplements list. He was handed an 80-game suspension.

Reyes has played with Pittsburgh for the last two seasons, but his -1.0 WAR year in 2019 stands out as especially disappointing. Reyes hit just .203 with two home runs and 19 RBI despite playing in 71 games.
With a career OPS+ of 77, far below league average at 100, Reyes faces an uphill battle to make it back to a big league roster after this.

Reyes was already a marginal baseball player before he got slapped with a suspension, and it remains hard to envision a scenario where manager Derek Shelton gives him a chance to prove his worth any time soon after this nightmare.
