Pirates Reportedly Sign Outfielder Guillermo Heredia

Former Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Guillermo Heredia will soon be suiting up for a new ball club, as the 28-year-old has found yet another new MLB home.
Heredia is set to join the Pittsburgh Pirates on a major-league deal, per Adam Berry, after being non-tendered by the Rays back in December.
Sources: The Pirates have agreed to a Major League deal with free agent outfielder Guillermo Heredia. Heredia, known as a strong defender and a good clubhouse presence, was non-tendered by the Rays last month.

Across 204 at bats in 2019, Heredia slashed .225/.306/.363 with five home runs, 20 RBI and 31 runs. Not much of a threat at the plate, Heredia's biggest impact comes on defense, as he's a reliable option in the outfield.
Interestingly enough, Heredia has the chance to become to first Cuban-born player in history to play for the Pirates organization.

With the addition of Heredia, look for some big defensive improvements on a Pirates team that finished 29th in the MLB in fielding percentage last season.
