Tigers Acquire Pitcher Dario Agrazal in Trade With Pirates

Another day, another MLB offseason trade.
This time, the action involves Pirates pitcher Dario Agrazal, who is reportedly headed to the Detroit Tigers in exchange for cash considerations.
The Tigers have acquired right-hander Dario Agrazal from the Pirates for cash considerations, I'm told.

The 24-year-old Agrazal had a decent first year with Pittsburgh, throwing for a 4.91 ERA and 41 strikeouts. It would seem that Ben Cherington's revamped Pirates front office just doesn't see him as part of the plan for the future, however.
Detroit, on the other hand, could definitely use any arm they can get. Last season, the pitching was atrocious, tossing up a horrific 5.24 ERA and a league-worst 114 losses collectively. (Then again, every part of that team was more or less historically bad.)
Argazal does have potential that the Tigers pitching staff can work with. He has multiple pitches that all look effective at times, and it could be that buying low on him turns out to be a slick move.
The newest #Tiger, Dario Agrazal, features 4 different pitches. He throws a sinker 55% of the time, followed by a slider at 19%, changeup at 13.4% and slider at 12.4%, according to Statcast.

73.1 IP, allowing 15 home runs, 41K's. WHIP of 1.364.
No, Agrazal probably won't be the Tigers' ace of the future, but he can be a guy that grows into consistency out there. Whatever it takes to give this moribund franchise a chance to win more games next season is worth a shot.
