Pistons Reportedly Emerging as Favorites to Land Derrick Rose in Free Agency
By Jared Kish
Derrick Rose had a bounce back season last year after being plagued with injuries for most of his career. Rose hasn't made many headlines since being the 2010-11 NBA MVP but he still found a way to average 18 points on 48.2 percent shooting this past year with the Timberwolves.
Rose is a free agent this offseason and according to The Athletic's Frank Isola, he may be heading to Detroit.
The guard proved he still had some left in the tank last season, but he was bothered by injuries playing in only 51 games last year due to both ankle and elbow injuries.
Rose has struggled to stay on the court the past seven years as he's only averaged 43.7 games a season within that time span.
Even though Rose has struggled, his numbers last season still give teams hope he can perform at a high level again. Rose posted a 37.0 percent from three point range which is a personal best. He also recorded a career high 50 point game on Oct. 31.
The Pistons went 41-41 last year and if they do land Rose and he can play a healthy full season, he will help the team out considerably.
