After a sudden resurgence in 2018-19, Derrick Rose is taking his talents to the Motor City.

The Detroit Pistons have a need at the point guard position after witnessing Reggie Jackson's inconsistency firsthand this postseason. Now, adding a veteran presence like Rose will help fill the huge void that is Detroit's outside shooting. Not to mention that the former MVP is still a solid playmaker even at this humbler stage of his career

The incumbent Jackson has the talent of a mid-tier point guard in the Eastern Conference but the confidence of a Russell Westbrook, which is far from an ideal combination. While that may sound like pure entertainment, it's not a positive for the Pistons in the long term. Rose has the presence and leadership ability to keep Jackson grounded should they wish to pair the two and not ship Reggie out of town.

Rose's modest contract also proves this is a solid move for the Pistons moving forward, as they have very limited cap space with Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond on the books already.

Rose is far, far away from the MVP player he once was with the Chicago Bulls before multiple devastating injuries derailed his career, but at the very least, he can be a reliable third scorer and create his own shot when Detroit needs him most.
