Pittsburgh's Version of Skip Bayless Says Steelers Should Trade JuJu Smith-Schuster This Offseason
By Scott Rogust
The Pittsburgh Steelers fought through their 2019 season without Antonio Brown, Le'Veon Bell, and Ben Roethlisberger. They managed to put up a serviceable 8-8 record, but there are still major questions as to how they can catch up to the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC North standings next time around.
Enter Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan.
The Pittsburgh pundit actually suggested the Steelers should trade receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster to the Buffalo Bills for a first-round pick.
That's just lunacy.
Yes, Pittsburgh not holding a 2020 first-round selection does sting, but they surrendered it to obtain a certified stud in defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick. Fillipponi believes they should send Smith-Schuster to Buffalo for their first-rounder, with his logic being the wide receiver class this year is deep.
Yes, that's true. But getting a player on JuJu's level in the middle rounds while also nabbing a game-changing player at another position in the first round is just not terribly likely.
And why would the Bills surrender their first round pick for Smith-Schuster if they could just draft a wideout themselves, people?
We get it, that first-round selection could be used to help the Steelers pick a quarterback of the future, but trading away your best offensive weapon to make that happen doesn't make tons of sense. Sorry, Andrew. This is a bad idea.
