Pittsburgh Mayor Calls Out Steelers for Allegedly Stalling Development of Tailgating Lots
By Brendan Azoff

Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto is fed up with the Steelers apparent attempts at stalling the development of tailgating lots around Heinz Field.
The Mayor says the Steelers use a North Shore parking lot to give fans a tailgating spot, when the space could be developed and utilized better.
Mayor Peduto is accusing the Steelers are refusing to develop the 200-space parking lot on the North Shore because they want to continue to use it "eight days a year for the purpose of tailgating.”https://t.co/c6rM2eUamc

“And what [the Steelers are] saying is they don’t want to give it back. They don’t want to develop it. They want it for parking eight days a year,” Mr. Peduto said. “They want the public to give up their right to develop that site and to give up their right to take the site back from them for not developing.”
The Steelers have the lease of the lot until 2021, and they split the revenue that the lot makes with the parking company at a 50-50 clip. The Mayor claims the Steelers use the lot like a personal ATM and are against anything being developed in that space.
Steeler nation always gets rowdy, and it appears the team has the fans' back when it comes to their right to tailgate. This saga will most likely continue until the Steelers lease is up in 2021, and it will be interesting to see what happens to the lot.
Impressive shade by the Mayor of Pittsburgh here saying the Steelers will never get a home playoff game. https://t.co/5c8W0vaa7R

For now, the Steelers and the Mayor will beg to differ on what the best use is for that lot, even if it is only just eight games this season.
