PJ Washington Completely Dominated in His NBA Debut
By Chris Russo
It's probably a good bet that Kentucky is missing PJ Washington already.
The 12th overall pick by the Charlotte Hornets in this year's draft made his NBA debut against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, and he stole the show with his...long range?!
Washington broke an NBA record with seven 3-pointers in his first career game, a 126-125 victory. He had nearly one-third of the Hornets' treys, which ended up totaling a single-game franchise record of 23.
Washington scored 27 points in all to quickly return the investment the Hornets made in a 42% collegiate 3-point shooter.
This is also not to mention he also played a game-high 38 minutes, showing he can already carry the workload.
Washington seems polished and pretty confident in his ability, especially when talking to the media.
As much as the NBA has changed, you still have to remember how remarkable it is that Washington is setting these 3-point marks as a power forward (fresh out of Kentucky, no less). Plus, he broke the record in only the third quarter. He probably could've kept shooting if he'd wanted to do so.
The Hornets ultimately do not have high expectations attached to them this year after Kemba Walker left the team, but they definitely have a reason to put people in the seats and look to the future.
