3 Players Who Definitely Won't Be on the Packers Roster Next Year
By Jerry Trotta
The Green Bay Packers are busy preparing for Sunday's Divisional Round bout against the Seattle Seahawks, but that doesn't mean it's too early to begin deliberating about the team's impending offseason.
The organization's brain trust will be forced to address the future of a plethora of soon-to-be free agents. For now, we'll put our GM caps on and highlight a few players that are unlikely to be returning to Green Bay next season.
3. TE Marcedes Lewis
It's quite possible that neither Marcedes Lewis nor Jimmy Graham return to Wisconsin next season. After all, the future of the tight end position appears to be locked up by Jace Sternberger and Robert Tonyan. Green Bay could keep Graham around as a veteran presence, but we fully expect that the organization will part ways with the 35-year-old Lewis, who caught just 15 passes in his 2019 contract year.
2. LB Kyler Fackrell
The narrative surrounding Kyler Fackrell is a bit unfortunate considering the breakout campaign he enjoyed in 2018. He compiled 10.5 sacks last season, but fell down the Packers' pecking order following the offseason additions of Za'Darius and Preston Smith this time around. The Utah State product is currently splitting reps with rookie Rashan Gary -- a scenario that he's probably not enthused over. With Gary expected to man a bigger role in 2020, bet on Fackrell to land outside of Green Bay in free agency.
1. WR Geronimo Allison
With the No. 2 spot on Green Bay's receiver depth chart up for grabs, many offseason predictions zeroed in on Allison running away with the job. That turned out to be anything but the case, and he even struggled to carve out a role when Davante Adams was shelved for several weeks with turf toe. Look for the Pack's wideout corps to be revamped this offseason, and Allison, a free agent at season's end, is likely not in those plans.
