VIDEO: 2 Injured After Gunshots Are Fired at Pleasantville High School Football Game in New Jersey
By Mark Powell
A high school football game between Pleasantville High and Camden turned into a crime scene on Friday night. Shots were fired in the middle of the third quarter, with a little boy reportedly struck, to go along with one other victim. There are no fatalities as of this writing.
The game was, for obvious reasons, suspended, and will likely be replayed at a later date. Police and event security did a great job clearing the field after the unexpected scare.
NJ Advance Media reporter Kevin Minnick described the scene per NJ.com.
“Pop, pop, pop. At least have a dozen shots in Pleasantville bleachers,” Minnick said. “With approximately five minutes left in the third quarter, I heard multiple gunshots coming from the Pleasantville bleachers. At that point, everyone was just screaming to get down.”
Camden High School, the road team at the game, confirmed on Twitter that none of their students were fatally shot.
Nonetheless, the intersection of sports and off-field violence is a scary place. We hope all in attendance manage to recover from this unfortunate event.
