Point Guard LeBron is Here and it's Kind of a Brilliant Idea
By Chris Pyo
With the Los Angeles Lakers making a couple of splashes this past offseason with free agency, all eyes will now turn to head coach Frank Vogel to see how creative he can get with his situational lineup packages.
And so far, it seems like Vogel's willing to get pretty creative, as evidenced by the Lakers' experimentation with different lineups, including a crunch-time lineup featuring LeBron James playing point guard and Anthony Davis at the five. Oh really?
Yes. Point guard LeBron is here, and he might be here to stay.
In this lineup, the Lakers featured the likes of Alex Caruso, Avery Bradley and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope alongside LeBron and AD. Those are all gritty players Vogel apparently wants out there during crunch time next to two of the best NBA players of this generation.
The Lakers start the 2019-20 NBA season with games against the Los Angeles Clippers and the Utah Jazz, two perennial playoff teams who will put the Lakers to the test, especially in a close game in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter.
We'll see whether Vogel puts out the aforementioned lineup at all in a close game, but for now, it's good to see the team getting their creative juices flowing.
