By Michael Luciano
Boston Celtics rookie point guard Tremont Waters has just been met with the most shocking personal tragedy imaginable.
Ed Waters, Tremont's father, was found dead Thursday in a hotel room in West Haven, Conn. He was 49 years old. An official cause of death has not been publicized, and law enforcement is currently investigating his sudden passing.
Waters died at the Super 8 Hotel and was unresponsive when police arrived. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tremont Waters was raised in West Haven, where he starred for Notre Dame High School before playing at LSU. After averaging 15.3 points and 5.8 assists per game in college, Waters was selected 51st overall by the Boston Celtics in the 2019 NBA Draft.
This unthinkable news comes at a time where the young Waters was shining for Boston at NBA Summer League, showcasing the speed, handles, and finishing that made him such a coveted prospect.
Our deepest condolences to Waters, his family, and the Celtics organization at this most difficult of times.
