This 2021 Raiders-Packers Trade for Aaron Rodgers is the Exact Bailout Green Bay Needs From Jon Gruden

The Green Bay Packers trading future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers seemed almost unthinkable even just a few weeks ago, but they might just end up heading down that road after trading up for Utah State gunslinger Jordan Love in the 2020 NFL Draft.

No shortage of teams will be banging down Green Bay's doors trying to trade for Rodgers if and when he becomes available, but Jon Gruden and the Las Vegas Raiders could be at the front of the line should they want an upgrade over Derek Carr.

Rodgers could be sent to Las Vegas in exchange for a first- and a third-round pick in the 2021 draft. While this seems like a paltry sum for a player of AR12's caliber, you have to consider the fact that Rodgers will be 37 in 2021 and will turn 38 that December. When you add in his hefty contract, two picks is more than fair compensation.

As a coach, Gruden has a shown a preference to ride with veteran quarterbacks over younger players, meaning that replacing Carr with a veteran like Rodgers makes more sense given how Gruden operates. Should they cut Carr after 2021, a Raiders team packed to the brim with young, explosive offensive weapons now gets one of the best quarterbacks in history throwing them the ball instead of the checkdown king Carr is.

Green Bay, meanwhile, gets to start the Jordan Love era with a few extra picks to (hopefully!) provide him with some weapons.

Rodgers playing in the Silver and Black after years of pledging his loyalty to the Packers is going to be a major shock to football fans across the country, but the Packers organization has to be considering a move like this after suddenly declaring Love the future of the franchise out of nowhere.
