Pro Football Focus Grades Raiders' Selection of Alabama RB Josh Jacobs as Best First-Round Pick
By Ryan Giglio
Not much has gone well for the Oakland Raiders' offense since training camp started. But amid all the drama surrounding the team this offseason, there's at least one bright spot on the offense.
Rookie running back Josh Jacobs has impressed early on this year, and has caught the eye of outlets like Pro Football Focus. In fact, PFF rated Jacobs as the single-best running back in the NFL after two weeks.
No other back in football surpassed the 89.8 grade the site gave to Jacobs. The emerging star ranks fourth in the league in rushing yards and tied for second at his position in touchdowns.
The Alabama alum has showed a combination of power and quickness with the ability to burst down the field and make a big play, and has been crushing it despite logging just 12 carries in Week 2.
There's no doubt that head coach Jon Gruden will rely more on Jacobs in the upcoming weeks, especially if quarterback Derek Carr struggles like he did last week against the Chiefs.
Hopefully Oakland can stop playing from behind and utilize game plans that are more rush friendly, allowing Jacobs to get as much work as possible.
