Projected College Football Playoff Rankings After Wild Week 11
Week 11 was college football at its most electrifying. The main event was a high-scoring shootout between two of the best teams in the country, LSU and Alabama, in which the Tigers prevailed 46-41. This result, as well as Penn State's loss to Minnesota, greatly impacts the top of the College Football Playoff rankings. Here's a projection of how things will look going forward.
4. Georgia
Yes, one could argue that Georgia's one loss to South Carolina is much worse than Alabama's loss to LSU, and that Alabama is more worthy of a spot on this list instead. But Georgia's two wins against Florida and Notre Dame are better than any of Alabama's wins, so they deservedly finish out this list. They have one of the best defenses in the country, and with Jake Fromm under center this team is one of the best in the nation.
3. Clemson
Clemson's utter annihilation of NC State is a surefire sign that Dabo Swinney had his players fired up about not being in the Top 4. Despite his slow start to the year, Trevor Lawrence is still arguably the most talented player in the college football. With Penn State suffering its first loss at the hands of PJ Fleck and Minnesota, Clemson's case for a spot in the playoff is more obvious than ever.
2. Ohio State
Ohio state has been imperious, and dominant all year, leading to an undefeated record. They only place below LSU because LSU has faced decidedly better competition. The Buckeyes put up a ridiculous 73 points against Maryland in Week 11 as their offense continues to look like the nation's best.
1. LSU
Spearheaded by Heisman favorite Joe Burrow and fresh off a win over Alabama in one of the games of the year, LSU is the only team that could top this list. Their undefeated record speaks for itself, having topped the likes of Auburn, Florida and now Nick Saban's Crimson Tide. Coach O pretty much has the top spot locked up, and barring an unforeseen collapse from LSU, the Tigers should cruise into the SEC title game.
