Projecting the Eagles Starting Receivers in Week 11
By Chris Russo
DeSean Jackson's latest injury is just the latest development in a series of disappointing breaks for the Eagles. With Jackpot likely done for the year, the Philadelphia Eagles may make significant changes to their receiving corps during their bye week.
Despite the Eagles' 22-14 victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday, the Birds' receivers showed little to instill confidence in head coach Doug Pederson.
Pederson commented on the receiving problems, saying, "We've got to take a look at it, obviously. It's real."
Jackson had already missed six weeks due to an abdominal injury which he re-injured in Week 9. As a result, he's likely to miss another six weeks, and quite possibly the remainder of the year.
So with Jackson once again out of the mix, let's take a look at how the Eagles might line up at wide receiver for their Week 11 clash with the Patriots.
In terms of the wide receiver position, Jeffery will certainly maintain his starting role, while Nelson Agholor will likely work out of the slot. JJ Arcega-Whiteside will likely see an uptick in snaps and targets, and could very well start the game and line up opposite Jeffery. Third-year WR Mack Hollins also stands to see an increase in volume.
Other options as pass-catchers include rookie RB Miles Sanders, elite tight end Zach Ertz--who leads the team with 527 receiving yards--and second-string tight end Dallas Goedert.
This is certainly not an encouraging group to deploy against one of the league's best defenses in New England, but with the myriad of injuries plaguing Philly, they don't have much choice, unless they look to the free agent pool.
