Proposed MLB Realignment Creates Bloodbath Division With Red Sox, Braves, Twins and Rays That We Must See
By Jerry Trotta
Major League Baseball has recently introduced a proposal -- which would need to be ratified by the CDC, of course -- that would see play resume as soon as May. The league would be entirely stationed in Arizona.
On Friday, news broke which indicated that the MLB has discussed league and divisional realignment for the 2020 regular season. This would be based on where clubs play their Spring Training games.
The South Division of the Grapefruit League is an absolute gauntlet which features the Minnesota Twins, Atlanta Braves, Tampa Bay Rays, and Boston Red Sox, and we've never needed baseball more than right now.
My goodness.
It's worth noting that the Baltimore Orioles make up the fifth team of the division, so the aforementioned four clubs will undoubtedly have the occasional "get right" series against the O's circled on their calendars.
The Rays-Red Sox rivalry already makes for captivating content. Throw in the the Twins and Braves, who combined to win 198 games last season, and you easily have the best division of this realignment. Seriously, who would be the favorite to come out on top? We'd be hard-pressed to say that even two of these elite teams would qualify for the playoffs.
This temporary division would create new rivalries, and no team would have an easy road to the postseason. Considering how long baseball fans have been forced to witness the 2020 regular season be postponed, this bloodbath assemblage would be exactly what they need.
