Quandre Diggs is the X-Factor in Seahawks' Upset Bid Against Packers
By Ian Anderson
An injury-riddled Seahawks team is set to limp into Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
With the offense solely reliant on Russell Wilson to create points in the frosty conditions it will be up to the Seahawks' defense to keep the game close. The key to a Seattle victory on Sunday is going to be a big performance from safety Quandre Diggs.
Since being traded to the Seahawks in late October, Diggs has been nothing short of phenomenal. His grade of 87.8 since the move to the Pacific Northwest, per Pro Football Focus, ranks first among both Seahawks' defenders.
Diggs allows Pete Carroll to play the Cover 1 and Cover 3 schemes that he loves so much. The safety can fill holes and hits like a truck in the run game, but his range in the middle of the field is the closest thing to Earl Thomas that Seattle has gotten since the future Hall of Famer departed.
In the six games that Diggs has played for Seattle, the safety has 25 tackles to go with three interceptions, but his impact extends beyond the stat sheet.
In his press conference on Wednesday, All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner had nothing but good things to say about Diggs and the impact that the former Detroit Lion has made on Seattle's defense.
If Diggs plays like he has played all season it will make Sunday one hell of a contest to watch and his performance could be what pushes Seattle over the edge.
