Rafael Devers Insists Red Sox Never Cheated as MLB Sign-Stealing Investigation Remains Ongoing
By Sean Facey

The Boston Red Sox, like the Houston Astros before them, are under investigation by the MLB for illegally stealing signs from their opponents. But even though they're under the microscope, the players seem to think they'll come out clean.
Third baseman Rafael Devers joined JD Martinez as the latest member of the team to say that they did nothing wrong.

"We didn't cheat," he said to Stan Grossfeld of the Boston Globe. "We have a lot of talent. We don't need to cheat, and we became champs without cheating."
Those are bold words to say with the commissioner's hammer of justice looming above the team's head, especially considering the Astros had more or less the same attitude prior to being caught and punished.
It's incredibly intriguing to see yet another member of the Red Sox defend their legacy so fiercely. Alex Cora, who masterminded the cheating scheme in Houston, has already been fired from his role as manager because of the scandal.

Teams have even reported that they suspect the Red Sox may have been cheating as far back as 2016.
But at the end of the day, Devers' defiance is nothing more than talk. His claims in the face of hefty accusations only adds to the anticipation of the results of the league's investigation.
