Raiders Acquire WR Zay Jones From Bills
By Michael Luciano
The Oakland Raiders are in desperate need of some depth at wide receiver, and managed to find an experienced option without paying a fortune.
GM Mike Mayock's latest move was to acquire wide receiver Zay Jones in a trade with the Buffalo Bills. In exchange for Jones, Oakland will surrender a 2021 fifth-round pick.
This is the second receiver picked up via trade since the start of the season, as Oakland already added former Green Bay Packers speedster Trevor Davis.
Picked in the second round at No. 37 overall in the 2017 NFL draft after setting the NCAA record for career catches, Jones has struggled to get on the field this year, catching just seven passes for 69 yards. In 2018, when he was Josh Allen's preferred weapon in the slot, Jones caught 52 balls for 652 yards and seven touchdowns.
A sure-handed slot receiver, Jones should be a welcome addition to Jon Gruden's wideout corps.
Jones might have been frozen out in Buffalo, but it looks like Oakland will give him a new lease on his career.
