Raiders CB Nevin Lawson Suspended One Game for Using His Helmet as a Weapon in Week 17
Nevin Lawson began the 2019 NFL season serving a four-game suspension as a member of the Oakland Raiders.
He will begin 2020 with a one-game suspension after using his helmet as a weapon in Week 17.
With the regular season over, Lawson will serve his suspension in 2020, though he'll have to find a new team first considering his contract is set to expire.
Fans should remember Myles Garrett also getting a suspension this season for using Mason Rudolph's helmet as a weapon and striking the Steelers QB with it. Garrett, obviously, was issued a much harsher punishment.
This Lawson situation is news to many, and video isn't currently publicly available.
Video should, however, come out eventually and based on the one-game sentence, the incident may not have been as bad as what happened between Garrett and Rudolph.
Lawson may have to provide an explanation to whatever teams show interest in him this offseason, but talent usually outweighs any concerns such as this when it comes to signing players.
The 28-year-old featured in 11 games for the Raiders, making five starts. He logged 23 tackles and made five pass breakups as a member of the secondary.
