Raiders Claim QB DeShone Kizer From Packers
By Michael Luciano
It doesn't matter if you have problems throwing accurately down the field. If you've got a strong arm, NFL teams will continue to give you chances to prove yourself.
Former Packers quarterback DeShone Kizer was not out of work for a long time, as he was claimed off waivers by the Oakland Raiders after failing to crack Green Bay's 53-man roster.
Kizer was selected in the second round (52nd overall) in the 2016 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame by the Cleveland Browns. Kizer's bright future was squashed as a member of arguably the worst team in NFL history. Kizer threw just 11 touchdowns against 22 picks while starting in 15 games for the 0-16 Browns.
Kizer was traded to Green Bay, where he threw two interceptions in 42 attempts as Aaron Rodgers' backup. Following the emergence of Tim Boyle, Kizer was deemed expendable.
Kizer hasn't exactly been the combination of Tom Brady and Cam Newton he marketed himself as, but at least he managed to land on his feet in Oakland. Leave it to Jon Gruden to keep scooping up underachieving quarterbacks.
