Raiders Cornerback Nevin Lawson Suspended 4 Games After Violating NFL's PED Policy
By Karl Rasmussen
The Oakland Raiders will be forced to start the regular season without one of their newest acquisitions.
Cornerback Nevin Lawson was issued a four-game suspension from the NFL after he tested positive for a banned substance.
Lawson joined the Raiders after spending the first five seasons of his NFL career with the Lions. In 2018, Lawson started 14 games in Detroit, recording 5 pass breakups and 53 tackles.
He was expected to be a depth piece as well as appear in nickel coverage, but unfortunately he won't be suiting up for the first four games of the year.
Lawson issued an apology after he tested positive for ostarine, stating that he should have known what he was putting in his body, despite having no intent of violating the substance abuse policy.
He'll be able to return for the Raiders' Week 5 matchup against the Chicago Bears, though it remains to be seen if he'll see any game action.
The former Utah State standout was a fourth-round pick by the Detroit Lions in 2014, though in 54 career games he's yet to record an interception.
