Raiders Could Potentially Release Antonio Brown and Prevent Him From Playing Literally Anywhere
By Jerry Trotta
Can't stop. Won't stop.
The runaway train that is Antonio Brown and his petulant antics was back at it again Saturday morning when the player audaciously asked the Oakland Raiders to release him after the organization fined him and allegedly seeks to void his guaranteed money.
AB's behavior could prevent him from making $29 million in guarantees and, to nobody's surprise, he is exasperated with that potential reality. However, he could be walking himself right into a dreaded place he was in Pittsburgh just last season -- football purgatory.
That's right, folks.
If Mr. Big Chest proceeds to leave the team and refuses to return after receiving the renowned "five-day letter," Oakland has every right to assign him to the reserve/left squad list, meaning that the Central Michigan product would be shut down for the entirety of the season whilst not being able to sign for another team.
Any team whatsoever.
If Brown's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, were a wise man, he'd be advising his client to stay with the Raiders to ensure that he doesn't land on the reserve/left squad list... unless, of course, the 31-year-old wideout is actually OK with sitting out an entire season and perhaps not getting paid a single dollar.
At this rate, anything is possible. Don't be surprised if we're providing another update on this soap opera within the hour.
