Raiders OG Gabe Jackson Carted off Practice Field With Lower Leg Injury
By Sean Facey
The Raiders may have just lost a key offensive lineman to injury.
Veteran right guard Gabe Jackson was reportedly carted off of the field at practice on Thursday with a lower leg injury. Obviously, this is not good.
Jackson has been with the Raiders since the start of the 2014 season and has appeared in 73 games. He's started 13 or more games in each of the last four seasons.
The offensive line allegedly gathered around him before he was taken off of the field. Jackson seemed to be having problems while trying to put pressure on one of his legs.
Oakland quarterback Derek Carr struggled to live up to expectations last year. The Raiders' passing offense finished with a below league-average 3,751 passing yards in part due to the fact that protection on the offensive line was so inconsistent.
Losing Jackson to injury could deal a devastating blow to an already weak offensive line.
Injuries have been a glaring problem for the Raiders in the early going as they ramp up for the new season. Most notably, standout wide receiver Antonio Brown is expected to miss a significant amount of time due to frostbite on his foot.
Hopefully the injury to Jackson isn't serious and he can get back to playing in the near future.
