Raiders Punter AJ Cole Seen Wearing Completely Incorrect Winnipeg Shirt
By Jerry Trotta
The Oakland Raiders landed in Winnipeg on Wednesday for a preseason clash against the Green Bay Packers at IG Field on Thursday (seriously, that's happening).
Some of the Raiders were sporting Winnipeg-themed apparel to convey their love for the city, and most of the players actually pulled off the look. Unfortunately, however, punter AJ Cole did anything but do his franchise proud with his choice of clothing.
Cole's sweatshirt pictured a city skyline with the words "Winnipeg, Alberta" displayed underneath, which is...not a place.
Clearly, the Raiders official Twitter account was not aware of Cole's laughable gaffe because they included Cole in the same post as kicker Daniel Carlson, who is actually donning appropriate Winnipeg gear.
Don't worry, Winnipeg locals. Twitter was quick to scorn Cole. And first up is Carlson himself.
All Cole had to do was pull off one, swift google search.
It's almost as if the undrafted product out of North Carolina State purchased the shirt at a..."Chinese flea market."
Cole would eventually reply to @RaiderGazzola to confirm that the shirt was actually purchased via Amazon Prime.
Even the Winnipeg mayor, Mr. Brian Bowman, got involved in the discussion, but predictably took the more civil route.
Hopefully, the rookie learned from his mistake and will perform more due diligence before future trips outside of the states. If not, the unforgivable world that is Twitter will unleash its wrath once again.
