The Raiders were a team nobody expected to make much of a noise in 2019, even with Jon Gruden's return voyage entering it's second year.

Through 10 weeks, however, they held a 6-4 record and were dancing into the playoff picture despite sharing a division with the Kansas City Chiefs. Unfortunately, that all went south in Week 11, as the Raiders finished 1-5 and missed the postseason in their final season in Oakland.

Now, the Raiders have once again exceeded expectations, entering the NFL offseason with a ton of holes in the roster and filling almost all of them. They have room to make another move or two, and there's one that could further elevate the roster and complete a stellar offseason.

His name is Devonta Freeman.

All the man has to do is lower his asking price first.

Despite having a poor 2019 performance with the Falcons that saw him receive the bulk of the opportunities only to produce 656 yards on 184 carries for 2 touchdowns, Freeman is towards the top of the list of remaining available free agents.

The Raiders are severely close to having no cap space to sign a soul, but with contract estimates for Freeman at one year and something between $2 million and $2.5 million, a contract to this former Atlanta stud is within reach. The only issue would be getting him to relent on his current salary demands.

The running back position is also the one area the Raiders haven't actually addressed with any diligence this season, but the goal must be to bring in a veteran back who can be a workhorse contributor to the run game. One shouldn't forget the presence of second-year back Josh Jacobs, who's on his way to being a legitimate star, but reports suggest that the Raiders want to involve Jacobs more frequently in the passing game. With that in mind, more depth is needed.

If the Raiders bring in Devonta Freeman and he can reignite the 2015-17 version of himself, they'll be in a better position to pull a few surprises in 2020.
