Raiders Unnecessarily Mess With Chemistry Again by Adding Damarious Randall

The Las Vegas Raiders found themselves with some extra cap space on Thursday night when it was reported that their previously agreed upon deal with cornerback Eli Apple had fallen through.

General manager Mike Mayock wasted no time putting it to use as the organization agreed to terms on a one-year contract with free agent safety Damarious Randall, who played the last two seasons with the Cleveland Browns.

The Raiders absolutely needed to address their porous secondary, but Randall comes with baggage and we're not sure why the team continues to tease its chemistry.

With 16 interceptions across five seasons, Randall, 27, is a proven NFL defensive back, and Las Vegas' secondary will undoubtedly be better with him than it would have been with Apple. However, the franchise's tendency (or willingness) to sign polarizing players is downright alarming.

Just in the last few seasons, the Raiders have taken fliers on Richie Incognito, Vontaze Burfict, and Antonio Brown. As we know, the former is the only player that's made the most of his fresh start in Oakland.

To be fair to Randall, his reputation is significantly more sterile than those three players, but he won't hesitate to cause a stir in Jon Gruden's locker room if things aren't going his way after very recently giving up on Cleveland.

Raiders Nation might be happy with the signing, but don't say we didn't warn you if Randall becomes a headache.
