Raiders Surprisingly Release Former Broncos Star LB Brandon Marshall
By Thomas Carannante
NFL cuts are aplenty today, and some are coming as a shock.
The Oakland Raiders are trimming their roster and in the process have taken fans by surprise. They're cutting ties with linebacker Brandon Marshall, who starred with the Denver Broncos before landing with Jon Gruden's crew.
This comes AFTER the Raiders decided to rest Marshall in their preseason finale.
Marshall was a projected starter on the depth chart alongside Vontaze Burfict and Tahir Whitehead, but it looks like Nicholas Morrow will now step into that role. After all, reports out of camp suggested he's been standing out all summer.
Injuries limited Marshall to 11 games last season, but many figured that wouldn't affect him heading into 2019. Perhaps Gruden wanted to go with a younger linebacking corps, but Marshall has logged 423 tackles, 21 passes defensed, 5 forced fumbles and 2 interceptions.
There's no doubt he can help out another NFL team, so be on the lookout for him to sign before Week 1.
