Rams Hiring Former Redskins OC Kevin O'Connell to Same Role as Youth Movement Continues

The Los Angeles Rams are making changes to the coaching staff in 2020. That means adding a true offensive coordinator.
Sean McVay decided to bring on the man who just held his previous job of offensive coordinator of the Washington Redskins. 34-year-old Kevin O'Connell has been brought aboard to the same role in LA, as the McVay's coaching staff continues to fill out and get younger.
Rams are finalizing a deal to make former Redskins offensive coordinator Kevin O'Connell their offensive coordinator, per source. O’Connell succeeded McVay as OC in Washington, now will work with him in LA.

O'Connell rose to OC in Washington after serving as the quarterbacks coach and run game coordinator. This coaching career began after a playing career that spanned from 2008-2012.
The #Rams will have an OC this year, and sources say they intend to hire former #Redskins OC Kevin O’Connell. He reunites with Sean McVay.

McVay had run and pass game coordinators on his staff but essentially ran the offense himself. He will now have a proper coordinator to help with the duties after a year of regression in 2019. It remains unclear if McVay will relinquish play-calling duties to his new OC.
The young head coach is wise to seek extra help and he must have made a great offer to take O'Connell away from the new coaching staff in Washington led by Ron Rivera.
McVay faced a rough season and is showing his maturity by adding to his staff. He just have to hope the young O'Connell is up to the task on a team that will once again have Super Bowl expectations in 2020.
